Guardian Application

A Guardian assists one or more Veterans (presently just one) from the time people assemble early in the day, through the entire day’s events and Homecoming at end of the day. Any U.S. Veteran (WWII through Vietnam) who served at least one day of active duty during a “war period” (check FAQs for dates) and has not already visited his/her respective memorial in Washington, D.C. is eligible for a free Honor Flight.  Priority will be given to older Veterans. If you want to go on an Honor Flight Mission, download or complete the appropriate online application along with the medical form, fit-to fly form and do not sue form.

“FLAGS OF OUR HEROES”

It is our desire to show the respect so richly deserved to the deceased WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War Veterans who never had the opportunity to visit their memorials and to the families of those Veterans.

We honor those Veterans and their families with a special program and ceremony at the memorials referred to as “Flags of Our Heroes.”

For those who would like to participate in this endeavor, fill out the online Flags of our Heroes Application form

If you do not live in Central Florida, you can fly with us, but there might be better options. Villages Honor Flight (VHF) will accept vets from anywhere.  Our region of focus is Central Florida (in particular the counties of Lake, Sumter, Marion, Citrus and Hernando) but we accept vets from any location. Like virtually every other hub, VHF flies out of a local airport, Sanford in our case.  We also have several events before the actual flights and a post-flight reunion.  Thus the transportation logistics for vets outside Central Florida could get difficult.  We recommend that vets from outside the Central Florida area check with the hub that is closest to them about getting on their list first. View the directory of all Honor Flight hubs. Volunteers (other than Guardians) provide a wide range of services. For specific volunteer opportunities, call 352-432-1382.
